Desktop Metal: The Studio System

The Studio System prints via method called Bound Metal Deposition (BMD). Azoth utilizes the Studio System for metal prototyping and internal lattice structures. This process has 3 steps:

  1. Print: Layer by layer, a green part is 3D printed by extruding bound metal rods—metal powder held together by wax and polymer binders
  2. Debind: The green part is immersed in debind fluid, dissolving primary binder and preparing part for sintering.
  3. Sinter: The part is heated to temperatures near melting, the remaining binder is removed and metal particles fuse together causing the part to densify up to 96-98%

This system allows design freedom and multiple material options. Azoth can help customers design for the process and quickly iterate designs in the prototype phase. Get to production quicker utilizing the Studio System and Azoth’s application support!
